Mom's View--Superior and Globe, Copper Mining Areas in Arizona

Driving ahead 4 miles and waiting for that moving dot to appear, I am always struck by how small Drew seems against the landscape and by how relieved I am to see him.

Drew and Adam have lunch at the Buckboard in Superior, AZ.

Our abode for the night in Superior. A little cabin with 2 rooms and 3 twin beds. Good pillow-top mattresses and don't underestimate the importance of coin-op laundry and wireless internet!

Triple C Cafe had great food and coffee.

Not much running room on that bridge across the gorge! Many areas similar to this, instead of a bridge they just fill in the whole gorge with rubble and build the road across; I guess there isn't enough rain to worry about it acting as a dam.

Drew ready to cross after 8 miles of Superior to Globe run. Lots of big trucks and campers and no shoulder on which to run. A few times he found a little space behind the guardrails.

Boulders seem to swallow this cabin.

Huge copper mine 20 or more terraced levels above the slag.

End of run overlooking the historic district of Globe, AZ.
Boulders won here.
Top-of-the-World had several places for "pickers" to explore.
