Rest Day: Officially Restful

Today was my first rest day of this long trip, and it was a smashing success. In fact, the most exercise I've gotten today is right now, typing with my fingers on the keyboard. I'll keep it short so I don't overexert myself physically, haha. I did get to go to Denny's Restaurant for breakfast for the first time since being out west. I almost went overboard with the Lumberjack Special, or the Grand Slammwich, but I reserved myself slightly and got an omelette with a side of snausage. It was no Bob Evans, like I'm used to, but it will have to suffice until I get back east a little further (as in Kansas and Missouri, since I googled the nearest locations). Other than breakfast, I did a lot of laying around, resting. Mom did all the laundry, and even ran a bit around the campground herself. My journey is already inspiring her, even if my sister and I do laugh at her awkward running gait. It was a very beautiful day today, warm, but a nice cool breeze blowing all day. I hope its blowing east tomorrow so it can help me along. I start my run tomorrow through an Indian Reservation, which is pretty neat. Had to get permission from the actual Chief to run across. We will have an escort through the reservation as well. I had a few requests to run in honor and memory of the 29 miners killed in the Upper Big Branch Mine tragedy a year ago today. It was unfortunate I was not running today, because I would have gladly run in their honor and memory. Instead, I honored them as many of you did today, with a prayer and thoughts of healing and comfort for their families. A West Virginia miner is a special person, and to lose even one, let alone 29, is losing our WV family. Great men died helping power this country. I think especially about Andrew Pauley today, and wish him well as he helps do the same. That is all for today. I'll check in tomorrow night folks.
